Philips offers simple solution to hi-tech need

Philips offers simple solution to hi-tech need
SoundBar lets you stream music and movies seamlessly in high quality audio

With the emergence of high definition video, the increasing demand for high quality audio is nothing but natural. Traditionally, to fully enjoy an HD movie, one would require a Blu-ray Disc Player or Smart Media Player connected to an AV receiver with five satellite speakers and a subwoofer, which is then connected to the TV. All these connections make watching movies complicated and even messy. Some may just settle for mediocre audio when they find the complexity of set-up is not worth their while.

But with the SoundBar CSS5123, Philips presents a hi-tech yet simple solution to this predicament. “Essentially, the SoundBar is an all-in-one speaker system that’s designed and engineered to play high definition movies and music, wirelessly or otherwise, while producing high quality cinematic sound. It is part of the Philips Fidelio range of premium audio products,” explains Mr. Franco Flameno, Business Development Manager for Lifestyle Entertainment, Philips Consumer Lifestyle Philippines. “In this day and age, there’s no more excuse to have a subpar audio system. Speaker systems are now expected to be multifunctional and convenient.”

A 2012 Red Dot Design winner, the SoundBar CSS5123 is a premium speaker system that caters to the demands of the thriving home entertainment market. “The unmistakably superior sound quality can be attributed to its integrated powerful speakers and a wireless subwoofer,” Flameno explains. “It utilizes Virtual Surround Sound technology wherein the speakers are angled accordingly to create a surround sound effect for a realistic movie experience.” Additionally, the SoundBar CSS5123 features a DoubleBASS technology which enhances the bass for a deeper and fuller effect. Moreover, its sleek design offers versatility to be placed anywhere.

Flameno points out, “a good home speaker is one that is not tedious to set up, boasts compatibility, and most importantly, delivers an amazing and powerful surround sound.” The SoundBar gains an edge in compatibility and convenience as it is an AV receiver in itself, allowing any DVD or Blu-ray Disc Player to be paired seamlessly through AUX, optical or coaxial connections and produce equally high quality sound. Furthermore, a built-in Smart Media Player allows one to simply connect the media source, like an external hard drive, via USB and the SoundBar will access and play all media files. Users can enjoy full HD video projection on TV as it plays cinematic audio.

Flameno adds that the Soundbar can also wirelessly connect with Android phones and tablets. “With SimplyShare technology and Wi-Fi, we made it easy for users to stream movies and even music via an Android device or PC,” explains Flameno.

“We at Philips have made it a point to make meaningful innovations such as the Soundbar to give only the best experiences for our consumers. It’s all about making lives simpler for all of us,” he concludes. With its array of features, the Philips Soundbar CSS5123 is seemingly the right fit for a premium home entertainment system, providing cinematic surround sound for a more immersive and realistic viewing experience.

Big Tribute to Teachers Set

Hundreds of educators from all over the country will converge on September 29 at the Crowne Plaza Hotel in Ortigas Center, Quezon City for A Tribute to Teachers.

A Tribute to Teachers, a project of Bato Balani Foundation Inc (BBFI) and Diwa Learning Systems, is the country's biggest and most anticipated gathering of educators. This year, it will carry the theme The 21st Century Filipino: A Filipino at Heart, Spirit, and Soul.

Saturnino Belen, BBFI Chairman and Diwa President says, "The teacher of the 21st century has become more important than ever. This is despite and because of the increasing use of Information and Communications Technology (ICT) as well as globalization of education in the Philippines. Since the 21st century learner is more exposed to these technological innovations, the teacher's guidance, wisdom, and love balance the high-tech with high-touch."

The event also celebrates the National Teachers Month, which recognizes the teachers' roles in nation building.

A highlight of the event is the announcement of this year's set of honorees for The Many Faces of the Teacher advocacy program, which seeks to inspire educators with remarkable stories of teachers' heroism.

The Many Faces of the Teacher is the yearly search for educators who have inspiring stories that may be shared for others to emulate. These stories include accounts of perseverance, purpose, and faith in shaping generations of youth. "The Tribute to Teachers and The Many Faces of the Teacher are programs which we hope can provide the needed morale boost for educators in this country," says Lorna Belen, BBFI President.

Pop princess Sarah Geronimo and Ballet Philippines' principal dancers Candice Adea and Jean Marc Cordero will lead the honoring of the teachers. Both Adea and Cordero are attending the event, fresh from their recent victory at the Helsinki International Ballet Competition, one of the world's most prestigious ballet competitions.

For more information, log on to www.diwa.ph

(BTW, our honorees are available for interview on September 28.  We have a very interesting set of honorees this year.  We have a duo who teachers in the mountains of Davao, a teacher from Sultan Kudarat who specializes in slow learners, an alternative learning system teacher from tuguegarao who teaches OSYs, tricycle drivers and housewife and finally a teacher who established a program to help students at risk of dropping out.)

Highly addictive: Gangnam Style

You may have heard this or even dance with it too!!! Viral today on youtube, Facebook, social media, and  twitter world  that it has been viewed a thousand times, artist from local and international can relate and was influenced to do a parody of this dance step.

What exactly is a Gangnam Style?

"Gangnam Style" is a 2012 K-pop single by the South Korean rapper PSY. "Gangnam Style" is widely praised for its humor, catchy rhythm as well as Psy's unusual dance moves that have introduced many people to K-pop. First released on July 15, 2012, it entered the Gaon Chart singles chart at number one upon release, and it has the most views as a K-pop song on YouTube.[1]
 -- According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Gangnam_Style

BY: EzykronHD

The Horse Dance
"The mass appeal of the music video has been attributed to its signature dance move known as “the horse-riding dance,” which combines the stylistic elements of shuffle dancing and hand movements resembling the posture of a horseback rider. During its onset, speculations arose in the Korean internet communities that the dance may have been pioneered a year earlier by a Korean pop group Girls’ Day in their 2011 debut single Tilting Head. However, PSY later revealed in interviews that he came up with the dance during a talent contest at a post-concert event in August 2011".- http://knowyourmeme.com/memes/gangnam-style

For sure this will be so known that it will  be a dance craze especially here in the Philippines, this will be seen on parties, aerobics, schools, and many more. we'll be waiting for their versions. :)

Found this on facebook a mash-up for sure that will give you LSS and dance.

Here are some facts and we should be aware of the consequences by throwing trashes in the ocean, environment and deforestation causing global warming that could harm us here on our lovely earth!

1. More than 1,000,000 living organism of sea are killed every year, just because of plastic bags which are thrown into sea.
2. A Plastic Bag can take more than 500 years to decompose.
3. An Average family throws out plastic bag which weights more than 40kg, every year.
4. 84% of all Household trash can be recycled
5. Cigarette takes a year to 12 years for decomposition.
6. About 90% of the contents of our bins could be reused or recycled. You can reduce the use of some items, can reuse some of them like paper and cardboard and take some of them (cans, plastic, bottles etc) to recycle bin. We can make money with these ( "may pera sa basura") .

So next time you threw those trash think if it can be recycled, segregated and reuse.
